'One Strobe Over the Line' Story Code '66409' by Chris Ruppenthal

15th June 1965: Sam leaps into renowned New York high-fashion photographer Karl Granson, right in the middle of a shoot with glamorous model Edie Lansdale and a lion named Snowball. Having bluffed his way out of the situation, Sam takes Edie home to her apartment and her pet cats; after suppressing his attraction to the beautiful model, Sam then meets Al, who is clearly enjoying his friend’s proximity to gorgeous women. Al reveals that Edie’s manager, a selfish, hard-nosed banshee named Helen, is on the edge of bankruptcy, and that Edie is due to die from an overdose of pills and alcohol in three days time. The next day, while struggling with another photo shoot, Sam and Al notice that Edie is flagging; the girl’s fatigue is noticed by Helen, who promptly forces her to take several amphetamines as a pick me up…
